Sporturf Tech Tip #7 Pesticides

Please continue reading below to learn about pesticides on synthetic turf:
In the spring and summer months we often see more lawn care being done. There are DIY projects and Professional projects. It’s important that when working around your synthetic turf on Natural Flower Beds we don’t allow Pesticides or other harmful chemicals to leech onto our beautiful synthetic turf surfaces. The chemicals from these chemicals can cause Fiber breakdown of the surface.
Please follow up with your Business Director if you have any further questions before starting your next project. You can also refer back to your installation guidelines for complete details.

Sporturf Tech Tip #6 Weeds in Synthetic Turf

Weeds are a challenge when it comes to a natural lawn or even a synthetic turf lawn. While it is best to use a weed killer that has a neutral PH between 6.7-7.3 it is best to test on a sample or small area away from the lawn before treating the entire area.
There is a safe risk-free option for fighting against weeds and vegetation in and around your lawn. Natural Weed Killer consist of 1 gallon of White Vinegar, 1 cup of Salt, and 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap. Simply mix the solution in a pail (mixing well) then pour into a pump sprayer to easily treat the affected area.
Please follow up with your Business Director if you have any further questions before starting your next project. You can also refer back to your installation guidelines for complete details.

Below are some tips on  daily turf usage:

1. Footwear should be restricted to ½” molded cleats
2. Stance areas for baseball/softball, Lacrosse and soccer goal mouths face abnormal
wear patterns and must be monitored daily.(See section II)
3. Band Practices may cause abnormal wear and the field must be monitored for rubber
loss in high traffic areas.
4. Pets or animals should not be allowed on artificial turf areas.
5. Non authorized vehicles should not be allowed on turf. Light machinery such as
Gators, tractors and golf carts are permissible with turf tires only.
6. No food, chewing gum, sunflower seeds and/or tobacco products on playing surface.
7. Daily cleaning of surface should be hand-picked. Vacuums with dual motors and leaf
blowers recommended.
8. Turf grooming and cleaning must be done by trained staff and authorized equipment
9. Steps must be taken to prevent dirt/debris from collecting onto surface from nearby
trees and parking lot trash.

Eisenhower Park Joins Forces with KYA and Sporturf

Sporturf Regional Account Manager worked with Sporturf dealer KYA to install three large-scale fields including baseball and softball. The project was located in Arcadia, California in 2019 and featured Sporturf’s GameChanger product.

As you can see in the aerial shot included in this post, the field lines intersect on two of the fields creating and incredible design and highlight our AquaFab’s talent in design and turf prefabrication. Just about anything that you can dream up our team can make happen.

Eisenhower desired a high-quality field with maximum life expectancy so they chose KYA and Sporturf. The end goal was to improve playability, and upgrade the aesthetics and safety of the fields.

Our partnership with KYA Group is just as impressive. KYA is a solutions driven company specializing in sports fields, athletic courts, resilient surfacing, classroom beautification and sustainable plantscapes supported by project management, design, general contracting and maintenance services.

About GameChanger

Sporturf™ GameChanger is very similar to natural grass; our advanced yarn provides resilience and strength at the same time, while maintaining a brilliant appearance. The fiber has exceptional split resistance compared to conventional turf fibers. This increases the performance in sliding, ball roll, ball bounce and durability making our product one of the best on the market today.

As always, if you have any questions please contact your Regional Account Manager regarding any new or past products. We have the team, we have the turf and we have skills to make your next project the best one yet.

Santa Fe Baseball and Softball Chooses Sporturf and EnviroTurf

Recently Santa Fe High School located in Santa Fe, TX contracted with Sporturf™ dealer EnviroTurf to install a synthetic turf field on their softball and baseball fields.

Santa Fe High School cares about their students education and athletic equally.

That being said, it was clear that Santa Fe High School wanted the best for their student athletes and that is why they reached out EnviroTurf and Sporturf respectively. They chose Sporturf’s TrueGrass product for these installs after determining they needed the best products available. The school also opted to have customized logos created by our AquaFab department and have it installed into their field along with the turf.

Sporturf’s TrueGrass is a premium athletic field product that has been tried and tested in the toughest conditions. This product also features the longest lasting fiber available, which makes it ideal for indoor and outdoor athletic fields.

Sporturf dealer EnviroTurf was established in 2006 with a goal of providing superior products that are durable, cost-efficient and aesthetically pleasing while maintaining a commitment to supplying the safest surface possible.

As you can see in the images in this blog these projects came out seamlessly as Sporturf and EnviroTurf pride themselves in making and installing a quality product that is built to last.

If you have any questions regarding this project or any other, please reach out to your respective Regional Account Manager for assistance. We would love to help you get Sporturf on your athletic field.
