Sporturf Tech Tip #5 Idiling Vehicles on Synthetic Turf

This tech tip is proviiding information on idiling vehicles effect on synthetic turf.

In the summertime there are normally cookouts, graduation parties, pool parties, and other events at our homes that usually exceed the amount of parking most of us have. It’s important to remember NEVER leave a Car idling on your synthetic turf. The heat buildup or exhaust can damage the turf to an unrepairable state.

Mulit-Purpose Products

As always with all of our tech tips if you need more clarification or additional assistance please contact your Regional Account Manager before working on your next project.

Below are some tips on  daily turf usage:

1. Footwear should be restricted to ½” molded cleats
2. Stance areas for baseball/softball, Lacrosse and soccer goal mouths face abnormal
wear patterns and must be monitored daily.(See section II)
3. Band Practices may cause abnormal wear and the field must be monitored for rubber
loss in high traffic areas.
4. Pets or animals should not be allowed on artificial turf areas.
5. Non authorized vehicles should not be allowed on turf. Light machinery such as
Gators, tractors and golf carts are permissible with turf tires only.
6. No food, chewing gum, sunflower seeds and/or tobacco products on playing surface.
7. Daily cleaning of surface should be hand-picked. Vacuums with dual motors and leaf
blowers recommended.
8. Turf grooming and cleaning must be done by trained staff and authorized equipment
9. Steps must be taken to prevent dirt/debris from collecting onto surface from nearby
trees and parking lot trash.

Santa Fe Baseball and Softball Chooses Sporturf and EnviroTurf

Recently Santa Fe High School located in Santa Fe, TX contracted with Sporturf™ dealer EnviroTurf to install a synthetic turf field on their softball and baseball fields.

Santa Fe High School cares about their students education and athletic equally.

That being said, it was clear that Santa Fe High School wanted the best for their student athletes and that is why they reached out EnviroTurf and Sporturf respectively. They chose Sporturf’s TrueGrass product for these installs after determining they needed the best products available. The school also opted to have customized logos created by our AquaFab department and have it installed into their field along with the turf.

Sporturf’s TrueGrass is a premium athletic field product that has been tried and tested in the toughest conditions. This product also features the longest lasting fiber available, which makes it ideal for indoor and outdoor athletic fields.

Sporturf dealer EnviroTurf was established in 2006 with a goal of providing superior products that are durable, cost-efficient and aesthetically pleasing while maintaining a commitment to supplying the safest surface possible.

As you can see in the images in this blog these projects came out seamlessly as Sporturf and EnviroTurf pride themselves in making and installing a quality product that is built to last.

If you have any questions regarding this project or any other, please reach out to your respective Regional Account Manager for assistance. We would love to help you get Sporturf on your athletic field.

When asked about the install David DiGeronimo of DMA Sports Group had this to say, “Sporturf supplied the Los Angeles Recreation and Parks specification flawlessly for the SDSU Project. Sporturf was selected based on its reputation as a leader in manufacturing turf.  Key points taken away in working with the SportsTurf team were it was easy, great communication and open to the specification that the Owner wanted produced, which is not easy.  Our firm (DMA) visited the plant and reviewed the manufacturing process, which exceed all expectations with the cleanliness, quality control process and worker safety utilized in the manufacturing plant. The project was built in conjunction with AFE Sports, Brock Pad YSR and Zeolite Infill.  The field has played extremely well since August and with 95 oz of yarn it’s holding up extremely well to the high usage of the college community.  Thank you Sporturf team on a well produced product and openness to fit our clients needs with no hassle’s!”

This Green built space also utilizes highly focused LED lighting that minimizes shadows and power consumption. Located north of SDSU Parking Structure 12, the Recreation Field is available daily for drop-in play and also hosts recreational activities, including Aztec Recreation Group Fitness classes, ENS Credit classes, Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs.

About Swinerton

Swinerton traces its roots back to 1888, when a young Swedish immigrant formed a brick masonry and contracting business in Los Angeles to serve the growing city in its post–Gold Rush building boom.

Since our earliest days building along the Western frontier, the company has survived and thrived through two world wars, the Great Depression and Recession, dynamic cultural movements, and natural disasters. Since Swinerton’s earliest days, our exceptional craftsmanship has helped us create celebrated landmark projects throughout the West and beyond.

The company now has over 3,500 employees from coast to coast, and along the way we’ve helped build communities from the peaks of the Rocky Mountains to the Hawaiian Islands, from the Gulf of Alaska to the jungles of Colombia. The company still operates under California contractor’s license number 92—the one it obtained in 1927 when the state first began issuing licenses. Many Swinerton-built structures now claim a spot on the National Register of Historic Places and other architectural preservation lists.
