District School Board of Niagara Introduction go GSS and SWC

Recently Canadian Sporturf dealer Worldwide Turf Inc. worked with the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) who allocated $5 million in its multi-year capital budget to fund five Field of Dreams artificial turf fields.

Worldwide Turf Inc. has built and installed 3 of the 5 fields in the region so far.  Governor Simcoe and Sir Winston Churchill in St. Catharines this year, and Greater Fort Erie Secondary School in 2016.

Governor Simcoe Secondary and Sir Winston Churchill are located in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Both synthetic turf fields include:

  • 120,000 sq. ft.  GameChanger synthetic turf built on an aggregate base.
  • Large enough to accommodate regulation CFL games, FIFA soccer games and field lacrosse
  • 8 lane Running track
  • 8 Tier – Bleachers for spectators  and Players Benches
  • Full LED Sports field Lighting to accommodate night games

“Athletics are a significant and meaningful aspect of education for many students. The Board is taking action to support the athletic programs and provide students with first-rate facilities to develop their skills and become active,” said DSBN Director of Education Warren Hoshizaki.

The stance of the DSBN makes Sporturf and Worldwide the ideal choice in their fields. Not to mention Sporturf GameChanger is very similar to natural grass; our advanced yarn provides resilience and strength at the same time, while maintaining a brilliant appearance. The fiber has exceptional split resistance compared to conventional turf fibers. This increases the performance in sliding, ball roll, ball bounce and durability making our product one of the best on the market today.

The DSBN fields will also be available to the community in the form of rentals, and these are truly win-win situations for the students and the community as they provide the consistent, even surface, the fields are much more accessible, allowing students with special needs more opportunity to become active.
