Sporturf and Field Hockey

Sporturf™ has developed a world class Field Hockey surface, called FIH71, utilizing the latest in yarn technology. When performance matters, Sporturf FIH71 excels because we want the athletes to concentrate on the game and not worry about a slow or bouncing ball. A predictable, fast surface is what FIH71 delivers no matter the weather conditions.

Utilizing a skin friendly polyethylene grass blade, FIH71 is much less abrasive than competitive nylon field hockey products for those instances when athletes come in contact with the surface.    FIH71 is the ultimate Field Hockey surface!

Recently, Sporturf FIH71 was installed at Missouri State’s Betty and Bobby Allison North Stadium with rave reviews. The field even includes retractable water cannons that allow for better gameplay. You can find out more information about this project in our documentation section on our website or you can simply click the following link http://sporturf.com/documentation/#highlight-reel

Lassiter High School Football and Lutzie 43

A week ago today Lassiter High School dedicated their brand new Sporturf™ field to the memory of Philip Lutzenkirchen. Philip tragically passed away at only 23 years old exactly 1 year to the day from when the project began.

The Lutzie 43 Foundation was established in loving memory of Philip Lutzenkirchen, shortly after his death in 2014.

The objective of the Foundation is to pass on Philip’s many remarkable characteristics in terms of community service, leadership and service to others. The Foundation’s motto is to “Live like Lutz, Love like Lutz, and Learn from Lutz,” reflecting the desire to help others live out the many positive character attributes that Philip displayed, while learning from the circumstances that led to his death.

Tonight the Trojan’s begin their regular season holding strong to the memory of Philip in the hopes that they will continue to remember and honor his values on and off of the field.

Clayton High School becomes a PowerHouse!

At the beginning of the fall season one of our dealers, Craig Shonk of Midwest Synthetic Turf Professionals, installed a field in St. Louis, MO at Clayton High School. The Clayton High school Greyhounds chose to install the workhorse of the Sporturf product line; PowerHouse. According to Lee Laskowski, “The multi-color blend gave the turf a more natural look, fiber density and price point finally made our decision.” Lee went on to say, “We also believe that this field will last longer and be more durable than some of the others because of the fiber.”

Silverback™ Pure Strength For Athletes

Silverback™ is our unique recipe for our specialty Polyurethane backing system.

Silverback™ saturates the primary backing of the synthetic turf and effectively locks the grass blades in place. While most polyurethane backings are a simple coating over the primary backing, Silverback™ actually penetrates into the stitch, surrounding every tuft and interlocking the grass blades into the primary backing. This process leaves you with a superior tuft lock well above the industry standard and ideal for any sports application.

Sporturf™ worked closely with Worldwide and Lewis-McChord in order to custom design high performance turf systems that surpassed the requirements for the multipurpose, baseball and softball fields.  For the multipurpose fields, a monofilament system was created to provide long term ball roll control and natural aesthetics and a high durability slit film was chosen for the baseball and softball fields.

Our fields provide a consistent surface that you can count on to deliver the best experience available on the market today. The turf we manufacture utilizes the latest technology and is made of the highest quality products obtainable. Features like heat reduction, ball bounce, ball roll and even light reflection are all advancements that are addressed in our product designs.

Our main goal at Sporturf™ is making sure your selection process is made easy. Sporturf™ offers consultation at our factory to help you determine what surface makes the most sense for you and your team. We are continuously improving on technologies and take the process of education very serious. Let us be part of your process today.

Sportscapes Construction Installs MT50 for Waverly High

Recently Sportscapes Construction installed 100,000 square feet of Sporturf™ MT50 for Waverly High School in Ohio.  The crew removed the tired natural grass surface and replaced it with a layered stone base which included a brand new concrete curb on the inside of the track surface.  Once the stone base and curb were in place it was time for the MT50 to be installed.  MT50 is a combination of high performance monofilament face yarn and a texturized thatch that traps and minimizes infill movement. Dan Hodson of Sportscapes Construction stated, “They (Waverly) really enjoyed the look and feel of the monofilament fiber and thatch layer from the beginning.”

Waverly 3

As the base layer was being finalized, a ceremony was held to explain the project and show the students and staff items that were set to go in a time capsule that would be buried under the field. Those items included signed jerseys, shirts and a photo from the senior groups who use the field for football, soccer, cheerleading and marching band, as well as a shirt with all of the signatures from Waverly’s graduating class of 2015.

During the assembly Hodson had an opportunity to address the students saying, “Congratulations to you seniors. You all paved the way for this today. Enjoy this. I build fields all over the country,” said Hodson. “To see this community pull together and pull something like this off is a testament to everyone in this room. You may not know how difficult of a project this is. It is extremely difficult. You all are blessed.”  He went on to challenge the athletes by saying, “For every football field we have built, the offense has scored on the opening drive. No pressure. Waynesville that we built last year scored on their opening drive to make it 19 in a row,” said Hodson. “For girls’ soccer, for eight years in a row, the girls’ soccer team has won their opening game. We will be watching to make sure it is number nine. For eight years in a row, the band has won a regional competition. All this is to say, I am super excited to be a part of the project. You are going to have a ball on this field. I hope to come back here next year and celebrate a lot of victories here.”

When asked how the product looked after the project was complete Hodson said, “I have never seen a better looking field, the colors on the field just pop! It looks sharp!” We couldn’t agree more, the field is beautiful!

To the inexperienced eye it probably does not look like it takes very much to install synthetic turf. We are here to tell you that is simply not true. Take a look at the project progression and we think you will be amazed at the amount of work that goes into a field.
